Philip A. Bernard, M.D., serves as Chief Medical Information Officer for Children’s Health.
In this role, Dr. Bernard is responsible for providing physician leadership and guidance for the design, implementation and ongoing support of information solutions related to delivering patient care, primarily focused on EMR optimization. He oversees Children’s Health IT systems from a clinical perspective with key consideration of leading technology and clinical practices to strategically align the patient and clinical team member experience.
Prior to joining Children’s Health in 2023, Dr. Bernard served as the Chief Medical Information Officer at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and as Associate Professor for Pediatric Critical Care at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Bernard graduated with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Southern Methodist University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from UT Southwestern Medical School. He holds certifications in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care from the American Board of Pediatrics as well as clinical informatics from the American Board of Preventative Medicine.
