Dai H. Chung, M.D.
Chief Medical Executive
Dai Chung, M.D., serves as Chief Medical Executive for the Children’s Health and UT Southwestern joint pediatric enterprise. Dr. Chung is responsible for strengthening clinical operations and fostering stronger partnerships across the joint pediatric enterprise and throughout the North Texas community. He works with leaders at Children's Health and the UT Southwestern Medical Group practice to develop and execute strategies across all pediatric operations to improve the overall quality, cost and efficiency of care for the growing North Texas pediatric population.
Dr. Chung is a highly acclaimed pediatric surgeon who is widely recognized as an accomplished clinical investigator and educator with renowned expertise in pediatric surgical oncology, neonatal surgery, ECMO and burns.
Prior to joining Children’s Health and UT Southwestern in 2018, Dr. Chung was the Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center; he was also the Director of The Center of Excellence in Neuroblastoma research and the Program Director of Pediatric Surgery Residency. Dr. Chung also served as Medical Director of the Pediatric Trauma program and Program Director at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Dr. Chung graduated medical school from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed his fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
