The Children’s Health℠ Courtyard

Children’s Medical Center Dallas includes a 17,000-square-foot courtyard. It is located next to a full-service Starbucks and expanded Butterfly Atrium. The primary function of this space is to reduce stress and anxiety while promoting overall well-being for staff, patients and visitors at Children’s Health.
The courtyard repurposes the space that was once the hospital's main entrance. Its amenities include:
- About 3,000 square feet of shade canopies that resemble a butterfly's wings when viewed from floors above.
- A central artificial turf lawn and rolling hills with rubberized surfacing.
- Eight built-in child-friendly musical instruments, including chimes, drums and bells.
- Pleasant nighttime lighting.
- An upgraded area for therapy dogs and their handlers.
The courtyard can be accessed at any time.
