Activities for Kids
Our mission at Children’s Health℠ has always been to make life better for children. That is why we offer services and activities to our patients that are not only designed to treat the physical, but also the emotional and psychological aspects of childhood illness.

Art Studio
The art studio is a calming and inspiring place that gives patients a chance to leave their hospital room to color, paint, make arts and crafts and let their imagination run wild; siblings are welcome, too. When patients are not able to leave their rooms, we bring art supplies to them so they can create masterpieces at the bedside.

Teddy Bear Clinic
Child Life specialists at Children’s use a variety of methods to help children cope while they are at the hospital. Teddy Bear clinics are just one of the many ways children are able to feel empowered and in control of their situation.
Patients go through a special kind of healing process as they walk in their parent’s footsteps for a day. Children hand over their stuffed animals at triage, radiology, IV poles, X-ray and surgical areas designed just for the miniature patients. Patients are soon reunited with their healthy teddy bears which helps them new perspective.

Music Therapy
During hospitalization, children often experience heightened fear and anxiety or a feeling that they lack any control. Music therapy can help address these and other needs by providing
opportunities for patients to make independent choices and express themselves through the medium of music. Music therapy sessions at Children’s Health are designed to help patients and their families cope with hospitalization and improve their physical, psychological, and emotional wellbeing.

Paws for Hope Pet-Assisted Therapy Program
The Paws for Hope Pet-Assisted Therapy Program presented by Petsmart Charities at Children’s Medical Center helps deliver the comfort of home to patients’ hospital rooms, ambulatory clinic and playrooms. The power of an animal to promote positive coping in an unfamiliar or even scary environment during challenging situations is amazing.
